The Holistic view

I'm not sure if it's a good sign or bad sign when your specialist tells you to see a holistic doctor.

Any way, any recommendations ?

Cue: Morrolan's "They're all charlatans" reply.

Dr Ian Lee, of course. Integrated Medicine Clinic, Biopolis. Tell him I sent you but you probably don't need the BHRT.

Cheers, I knew you had one, just mind blanked on the name.

I might try the Specialist recommendation (it's his second time telling me to go see a quack, but he gave me a different dr this time) first to see.

I wonder if I should wear some hippie clothes.

Only if you post pics.

He's nothing like that :) You could think you were in any private surgery at all, but without the big bill.

If you tell me when you're appointment is I'll come down and laugh, make faces, knock on the window and see if I can chat up the Squeeze N Toss girls.

Now there is a good reason to stay away from biopolis.

LOL!

Don't knock hollistic quite yet - they tend to see the bigger picture and as Kooky can attest to - they treat the body not just the ailment :)

Could always go with Dr Franknfurter: he removes the cause.....but not the symptoms!

i can't resist:
To holistic practitioners, a person is not just a body with physical parts and systems, but is a spiritual being as well. The mind and the emotions are believed to be connected to this spirit, as well as to the body. Holistic practitioners are truly alternative in the sense that they often avoid surgery or drugs as treatments, though they are quite fond of meditation, prayer, herbs, vitamins, minerals and exotic diets as treatments for a variety of ailments.
not for atheists, then...

but, hey, if it works.

Not really fussed. My specialist, one of Singapore's more famous in his field, has now told me twice to try alternate medicine as he's at a loss and he's seen it work on other patients.

I'll walk in expecting nothing but hoping to be proven wrong.

Hmmm...I'm definitely in trouble: half the time I'm out of my mind and many girls can attest to me having zero emotions!

well, at least all four institutes Dr. (is he really?) Lee mentions on his web site are on the list of questionable organisations from Quackwatch...

and "integrated medicine" is the 'invention' of Andrew Weil, a notorious drughead and woowoo alternative medicine practicioner, who, amongst other woo, promotes the use of ecstacy in his patients. how natural is that?
hey, maybe you'll get some free party drugs.

you may experience rapid weight loss in your wallet, though...
I am also sympathetic to other forms of healing, for example, homeopathy, osteopathy, chiropractic, energy medicine, acupuncture, TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), massage and so on.
yep... major woowoo.

yes, but it fits your holistic, aural profile as it relates to your natural psyche in interaction with the dangly bits of your yingyang.

There's nothing worse than dangly yingyangs, although you can get ointment these days.

He's a qualified GP.

I've just found out that prescribing/administering HGH is illegal in Australia. One of the doctors (GP) I've seen here tried very hard to make me have injections for osteoporosis; she injects herself for anti-ageing reasons (with all sorts of stuff, I think) and she looks bloody scary. I soon moved on.

Those anti-aging quacks are scary. Even scarier is the stupidity of their customers. I mean, for crying out loud, if there was an anti-aging therapy that worked, then why are people with the means and connections and motivation to acquire it aging normally. Oprah looks her age. Bill Gates and and Uncle Warren look their age. Brad and Angelina are aging normally. Just open your eyes, people!

some of those that fall for whatever new poison it is they inject/ingest, actually end up looking about as healthy and young as the embalmed corpse of Lenin...
