Lists of top 10 movies of 2011
The BBC has put together this list. I've only seen one of them. May be a few things to get.

I've watched 3 from that list -
Moneyball - good (true) story
Return ofthe Planet of the Apes - next !
Tree of Life - beautiful to watch, very different and thought provoking. Not sure what some of it meant to be honest, and found the final scene too much. I can understand why a lot people loathed this and it apparently had viewers walking out of the cinema in droves mid-way through! I'll probably watch it again.
On my list to watch:
There's something about Kevin
Drive
The Descendents
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
MArgin call
Bridesmaids / A few best men - both sound like perfect light comedies
Here's another list from The Guardian - best and worst stuff.

I've seen two from that list - Apes (garbage) and Beginners which I quite enjoyed.
I'll deffo go and see War Horse and The Artist when they're released here.
My top 3 from a pretty poor vintage would be:-
Submarine
Hanna
Senna
Oh, and Bridesmaids made me chuckle and when compared to Hangover 2 deserves an Oscar.

Senna I found very moving.
Contagion was a bit of a disappoinment. Great director, stellar cast etc etc but the movie fizzled out after an hour. As for Jude Law.... what was that about???
Still, nice to see Jennifer Ehle on the big screen again.

Oh, I'd forgotten about Contagion. What a pile of poo that was.
Of course, I loved Toy Story 3 and the last in the Harry Potter franchise, but to pick an all time favourite this year? Tough. And Apes it ain't!

Agree it wasn't really a vintage year. If I had to name a few for most enjoyed list -
Deathly Hallows pt 2
The Fighter
Page eight
Black Swan
The American
Though am sure quite a few of those were not actually 2011 releases.

Re: Lists of top 10 movies of 2011
I've seen 5 of them, some of them aren't out here yet due to the delay re holidays etc for release dates but the ones I have seen I quite liked, I didn't mind Apes at all, in fact was quite impressed that it was way better than I thought it would be watching the trailers, and considering what has been around, perhaps it would make it to the top 10.
Senna was one of my disappointments...sure it was good, and a nice doco, but I found it missed out too much of things that should have been in there, in particular his battles with Mansell...hardly a thing mentioned and they were particularly biased against Prost which was unnecessarily overdone.
I really liked Drive as well. Lots better than it was given credit to be. The last Harry...has to be on my list. Not too keen on War Horse...I would much rather see the theatre version. Somehow the film just looks too overplayed, over dramatised and "sappy" to put it in my 15yo son's words.
Not a great year for outstanding movies...but some fun ones thrown in there for everyone to enjoy.
