Shrek Forever After

Post by Fat Bob » 21st May, '10, 07:47

The fourth (and reportedly, last) film in the Shrek series sees the ogre going through a few more japes as he tries to be an ogre once more. All the normal characters are there: Mike Mysers in the lead role, Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona, Eddie Murphy as Donkey and reprising Puss in Boots, Antonio Banderas (sp?). All help the movie move along at a reasonable pace, with some chortling moments throughout.

It gets a 4 out of 5 in my book, as it did what it said it would do, and did it rather well.

Not sure if 3D would improve it or not, I've yet to watch a movie in 3D as it's not available in Gold Class.

I watched on plane, god bored after a while with it (Hurt Locker), but might have something to do with being damned tired at time...

I liked Hurt Locker.

Avatar I watched on a plane so I really only had the story line to judge it on. Crap.

Hadn't realised Shrek was available NOT in 3D. Handy as I can't see Mini keeping the glasses on. Where did you see it FB? Was thinking of going this weekend.

Avatar is an experience that you can't have on a plane. It's a must see in 3D movie.

I saw it in 3d, and the 3d effects were all right, but the movie was still crap. You get far better 3d effects by watching live theatre, and almost certainly a better story.

Effects good, crap story line? Something good for Bluray.........

I saw it in Gold Class, scummy, where else is there to see movies?

Oh, most cinemas are not 3D, therefore most cinemas will be OK. Just check on their website, it'll tell you 3D or not.

Hurt Locker was OK aside from the homo naked wrestling part, didn't really get that and didn't really bother trying to.

Forget that, seats only come in pairs so that's no good.

Think of all the fun Mini could have annoying people who paid $36 though......

I presume your second question wasn't a question but a statement.

Anyhow, go to the GV website and check out the area there. Basically, elss people to annoy you, reasonable snack menu including alcohol, ability to order without getting out fo your chair, big reclinging seat, blanket to keep you warm. So quite a luxurious way to watch a movie. Though not quite like home, I can't watch it in my boxer shorts.

Unless, of course, you've ordered a side of homo naked wrestling. [smilie=rotflmao.gif]

Saw it in 3D yesterday with the kids - 3 year old hated it, 5 year old was bored but i loved it - i like the first one and i like this one - those inbetween sucked... The 3D was good.

As for Avatar - without 3D it wouldnt be worth the time... the only thing it had in its favor was the 3d effects which helped obfiscate the fact that it was a shit story.

I don't know about Singapore, but there is nothing quite like having your own icebucket and bottle of champagne next to your chair when you are watching Sex in the City, or the Casino Royale.... THAT's what Gold Class has going for it big time.

Yes, fond memories of GC Bondi Junction coming to mind.

Don't think GC will hit Manila any time soon though!

That's exactly what Gold Class has going for it, Tas -- agree 100%. I was so 'worried' last summer that Harry Potter would no longer be available in Gold Class by the time I got back to Singapore from the US [smilie=rotflmao.gif] (It was and I got my bottle of bubbly in GC while watching Harry ;) [smilie=brut.gif] )

I personally prefer the red wine they have there, but that's cos booze cost $$$ in Singapore!

whereas a bog standard Jacobs Creek sparkling is well in the budget and serves it's purpose perfectly well in GC.

Ah, my idea of champagne is rather different to an Aussie's version of champagne.

What's your idea? I guess I go for Veuve or Moet mostly. Got a magnum (? -- it's a big bottle, whatever you call it) of Veuve chilling in the basement frig as we speak.......need to come up with a reason to pop that one :D

I do love Veuve but have found a $35 sparkling chardonnay pinot noir here that I love almost as much. They ran out of it but I've just read there is a new release. A trip to The Hunter is required!
