Suffering from upgraditis
Just having another case of upgraditis. Thinking of getting a D300 to replace my D70. No real reason except for a few small things in terms of handling but nothing what would justify the money.... should I?

of course!
erh.. what is it?
erh.. what is it?
Re: Suffering from upgraditis
Only three things count for me in a digital camera: ease of using in manual (ie separate and easy to access controls for both aperture and shutter speed), the light meter and the chip. If none of these three things has improved I wouldn't even think of upgrading. Battery life probably comes in as a fourth consideration, but most are pretty good until you start using flash. If one of them did improve I'd move on to deciding whether it was worth the money.

Diana is packing up as we speak, ready to come and live with you, and you're wavering over upgrading your toys now?
Re: Suffering from upgraditis
Yep, seems like his priorities are just about right!
Oh and the answer to your question is no, you shouldn't upgrade to D300 because I don't have one yet.

As a fellow sufferer of a partner's addiction to upgrading, I was offering Lichty some sound advice. Upgrade everything now, and it will probably save a lot of nagging later.

Re: Suffering from upgraditis
Thanks kooky, my thoughts as well. Chip has improved, shutter speed and aperture were okish before, but a few other things are much better to use (even on the D200). Battery life is fine on both and there always spare batteries anyway. Looks I got a shopping trip coming upKooky wrote:As a fellow sufferer of a partner's addiction to upgrading, I was offering Lichty some sound advice. Where's a good place to purchase a replacement battery for a digital camera? I did think Courts but their website indicates that they stock camera batteries for the DSLR cameras only... Need a lithium ion battery NP-45? Will be a waste to throw a perfectly good camera out.

So after 4 years this thread has come back from the grave it seems... incidentally I'm thinking of upgrading the D300 to a D800

Prayer has no place in public schools. Just like facts have no place in organised religion.
