back up important files to Portable hard drive

Post by expat yorkshire » 29th Feb, '12, 19:03

I want to back up my photos and important document to my 1tb portable hard drive.

I know i could do a straight cut and paste of "my documents" to the new drive but was wondering if there any software I can use which would copy the data now and allow me do only incremental backups in the future . i.e only backing up the files that have changed rather than all files

Thanks

Epy

Rsync is the geekiest solution.

I ended paying for an App called Allway Sync. Had to pay because of the amount of data I was transferring broke the free version limit.

It's a great app.

No, I don't. But I'm using the tool to backup data, sync websites, sync nas boxes.

Best $20 I ever spent.

I used to use Allway sync, but had a lot of issues with it in the past. So I switched to Goodsync and never looked back.

What issues did you have ? It's a life saver for me.

I have 8 jobs running. A mixture of sync websites, network shares, pulling backup files down from the net. Pushing backup files up, all with different triggers and timing.

No issues yet
