Tv advice
Bought the 42 inch Pioneer plasma in Sept 2007 at $3300
The Tv is a few months out of the 5 year warranty and I now have the flashing blue light of death
Should I seek a repair or just buy a new one ?
Just looking at Pioneer site they are quoting 200 plus transport for service and repair.
Vs
New plasma 43 inch Samsung at Best denki $799

Re: Tv advice
I had motherboard replacements on my Pioneer, but they repaired it at my condo. It wasn't cheap though at around $500+. I'm happy with my new Samsung plasma, but we still have the old pioneer and it still has a great picture. It is beaten by the Samsung in 1080p and darker blacks. It's a tough call. If you have a kuro you may want to consider repairing it. Or at least confirming that the Samsung has an picture quality on par with the Pioneer.

Re: Tv advice
I don't think so. I might have recommended you buy a Pioneer Kuro, but not the model you have.

Re: Tv advice
6 years ago then what you bought was probably a good compromise.
Now new tvs are a lot cheaper. If you're planning on sticking on plasma there are limited choices (but still good ones) otherwise head for lcd or led. We've had a few conversions about this.
