I'm surprised that anyone is surprised about the amount of electronic surveillance carried out by Governments.

Yeah, but this is the NAS actually tweaking android code! I guess that gets around the old wiretapping laws...

Rather NAS write it than the NSA 
Anyway, better they do it for android where there are hundreds, if not thousands, scanning the open code to find vulnerabilities rather than a closed OS like iOS where no on kows what's really happening.
