Grrr! Australia Network rugby coverage Grrrr
I am loathe to criticize the Australia Network's rugby coverage given they have been our (Sinkers) sole source of S14 and Trinations rugby for the last couple of years, but they have really fucked up this weekend -- the most crucial of the competition.
On Friday they are showing the no-hoper Chiefs v Blues clash live at (Sinkers time 1530), which has nothing at stake, but they are not showing the crucial Waratahs v Hurricanes game live (1730) and instead are showing mungoball Bulldogs v Dragons, another relatively unimportant match.
They are showing the Tahs v Hurricanes delayed at 2300 (Sinkers).
Double grrr.
(Yes, I have written to them ...)

So, if you were paying for a specialised rugby channel such as Setanta, you'd be happy?

Yup, I've long said I'd be happy to pay for it. As long as it is delivered properly via cable and not some shitty Internet streamed thing.

My prediction this week. Stormers will beat the Bulls by a margin. Why? Cos the dirty cheatin jaapies will make sure both teams are hosting home semi finals.
Some would argue the Crusaders Brumbies is at least as important as the 'Tahs v 'Canes. Hmmm...Chiefs Blues game isn't on til saturday according to Super14 website. And Planet Rugby. Maybe the only thing you can really complain about is that the Aussie network haven't updated their schedules, and your poor knowledge of the fixtures for this weekend.

You couldn't be more wrong on your first point. More than any other nation, the domestic South African teams (and fans) hate each other with a passion. Just look at how the Sharks completely fucked up the Stormers last weekend. The Stormers would already be through if they played according to your script.Fat Bob wrote:My prediction this week. Forgive me for going by the schedule on the TV network's own website. Foolish mistake, obviously!

On monday afternoon, I went fishing. Threw out some bait and caught a whopper in less than 5 mins!
And yes, foolish mistake, checking out schedules on a TV website, when the TV channels shows mungoball. Schoolboy error methinks!

Woo Hoo ...

Given that Australia Network has been the much appreciated lifeline for rugby union fans in Asia I am loathe to criticise your coverage, but I really can't understand your scheduling for this Friday (May 14) in the crucial final round of the Super 14 Competition.
You currently have listed the fact that you are showing LIVE the match between the Chiefs and the Blues, neither of whom have the slightest chance of making the finals, and yet you are not showing live the absolutely crunch match between the Waratahs and the Hurricanes and instead are showing some meaningless rugby league game.
Is there a chance you may change the schedule?

Fresh Mint
Dear Mr Mint,
The Friday-Saturday sports schedule has been revised so that the Brumbies/Crusaders and the Waratahs/Hurricanes matches will be shown live in succession on Friday from 1530.
The online schedule will be revised overnight.
Sincerely,
Rod Webb
Head of programming.

What no Reds...? I think they left the party a little early.

Rod Webb is very accommodating. He sorted out some AFL stuff for us last year.
So…if you wish to wish a wish, you may swish for fish with my Ish wish dish.
