Rugby on TV - HK and Europe internationals

Post by Fat Bob » 29th Oct, '10, 08:48

Guys and girls, finding it hard to see any rugby being shown on TV here. The Aussie channel doesn't seem to have anything (which I'm surprised for the 4th Bledisloe Cup game in HK this weekend, I think either 4:30pm or 6pm kick off) and can not see if Star Sports, ESPN, Eurosport or Super Sports have got anything (Starhub or MioTV)

As usual, a whole crock of shit!

Setanta Asia only seem to have the Aviva Premiership and Magners League on, nothing else. And it's only streaming, still not had a successful test with them.

Sorry I can't be of much more help!

Didnt' Freshmint have success emailing the one of the channel programmers directly on some game earlier in the year - good outcome from my recollection - worth searching that old post out?

We contuinue to do that on a regular basis: I've since heard that "ABC are showing the game at 6:30". I'm presuming ABC is the Aussie Network (on both MioTV and Starhub).

Aussie Network is run by the ABC in Australia, but they take feeds from all Australian Channels.

Update - on Saturday night/Sunday morning, both the England v New Zealand (10:30pm) and Ireland v South Africa (1.30am) games are on SuperSports (ch 202 on Starhub), whilst the Wales v Australia game is delayed at 10:30pm on Sunday night on the same channel.

Well done Starhub for sorting it out more than a week in advance!

Minty, I've no idea about Jakarta timings.

I'm really not holding out hope for Setanta getting their shit together ... Fortunately a lot of pubs in Jakarta subscribe through various means to the South African M-Net/Supersport digital satellite service, which is easily the best sports cable in the world and they show every significant (and non significant) match live.

The whole Setanta deal went through along with a crack down on being able to see SuperSports outside of South Africa. Whether it's actually working or not I don't know, we'll (well, you'll) have to see when you get there.

The only consolation is that the games are not broadcast here.
