I watched the second half live, and am just this minute starting to watch the first half on the encore telecast, as they always put it.

Choirboy. There's a choirboy. And they appear to be in Teletubby Land.

OK I've watched it all now, if the wrong way round.

Suspect there were some illegal substances present in the planning meetings but one hell of a show, and some excellent music in one section in particular.

And Queenie, you lucky old bird. Well played you!

Interesting to see how many youtube links put on Facebook a few hours ago are now blocked. Somebody obviously has the job of hunting them down.

It was nice to be reminded that soooo many familiar cultural objects, in fact, originated elsewhere. It's easy to forget the impact of British culture on the world because it is so ubiquitous- probably the largest ever. I would say smart choice by the organizers, but I doubt it was leftie Danny Boyle's intent to remind the world of rule Britannia. That said, where the hell were Zeppelin, The Sex Pistols, The Clash in the musical review- they left out so much!

I've had this in my head since watching the ceremony, even woke up with it this morning (which resulted in Han attacking my tapping toes through the duvet). Surprised it wasn't God Save the Queen though ;)

I couldn't get into the opening replay, because everytime I clicked on the chanel there was a frigg'n ad, which in the end shat me to tears and barely watched any free to air, and just did couple dvd only this weekend. However somehow in that flicking managed to see the replay of the Queen and Bond - I loved it. Thought it really demonstrates that she has a very good sense of humour and actually does have a pretty decent sense of self. The dropping from helicopter aspect was a tiny bit odd though...

edit: I also love the story that the grandkids were kept in dark so they would be surprised, nice reminder of family aspect to them as well.

She's happy :)

A woman walked into a pub and asked the barman for a double entendre. So he gave it to her.

so a 16 year old Chinese girl swims faster in her last 50m of the 400 than US top swimmer Ryan Lochte, shatters a previous super-suit world record by a second and they are not extracting any bodily fluid imaginable for testing in a lab?

Stuff the drug tests, I'd be calling for a full body cavity check for concealed jet propulsion devices.

what's so weird about this is that she managed this in the last 50 m. by that time a body is so full of lactic acid that it will be hard to come up with the power to keep the same time, much less boost itself off the charts. maybe she has an extra adrenaline gland?

AFAIK lactic acid builds up over a long period of exercise. This girl only swam 400m, and many athletes get a crazy aderenaline rush at the last leg so it cdould have been the rush.

To me, it's her swimming faster than a boy that screams "doping!!".
