Han's Halloween Costume - NOT for the faint-hearted

Post by Kooky » 2nd Nov, '08, 15:12

Original link updated for a couple photos of my poor boy, post-op. Only look if you are really interested; it's not very nice.

He's had some food and is having a good sleep before we upset him greatly with a hot compress on his wounds. :o

Awwww, poor guy :( Hope he has a speedy recovery. I don't suppose there's much you can do about the perpetrator -- but, do you even know who it is?

Can only guess it's the local bruiser, unless he went further afield as he has been disappearing in the early hours lately.

Have to have a serious think about a cat enclosure. :(

Oh, that looks sore, no way to I envy anyone who has to put any type of compress on that. He doesn't look like he would take things lying down.

I have to admit he does wear it all very well. You would think it was all just fake the way he is sitting there.

Well, what can I say - the other guy was probably here first, but lots of you know Hanny; he's a lover not a fighter. :(

Hot compress went well  Looking forward to dispensing of antibiotics in the morning.

You should see them in the flesh, and flinch every time he tries to clean himself, A - which is often :(

I'm pleased to report Han and I had a fair night's sleep, snuggled up together. Not sure about Neo, as he was in the lounge on the sofabed keeping Bo and Fu entertained as we had our bedroom door closed. [smilie=rotflmao.gif] Han has had his wet breakfast sprinkled with antibiotics. Cleaning is not going that well - we can do his shoulder without too much stress, but his head is obviously still very sore.

Poor cat! Hope he gets better soon. Do you think he's invaded another cat's territory, or has another cat invaded his?

Well we had a few turf wars in the first couple of weeks, Bender, but I thought they'd all come to some arrangement.

They have been chased back through our garden occasionally, and the huge Aussiecat stopped just short of coming through the catflap. We can only really catproof 2 sides of the garden (one is done already), so short of keeping them in completely I don't know what we can do.

Catch the other cat and send it off to have its nadgers removed. That'll curb its aggression.

My mother said much the same, Burb, but Bo's never had any and she can be very mean sometimes.

It's still worth it.

Soda scraps with Whiskey all the time, but she runs like a startled bunny if something she doesn't know happens.

Whiskey, on the other hand, is softer than Bagpuss.

Poor Han? Poor me. Han seems to be feeling a lot better and is spending most of his time trying to remove the drain from his shoulder  I suppose, if the skin is healing, it's probably getting very itchy. He's bitten off part of the drain already and I'm worried he'll rip out his stitches. He and I didn't get a lot of sleep. :(

I haven't been out for 3 days as we've got the catflap locked and barricaded and both Fu and Bo regularly try to dig their way out. The venetian blinds are copping a lot of their frustration, although Fu is also jumping on the bookcase in the hallway and knocking all the ornaments onto the floor, then shouting me to go see how clever he is. I'm also worried they'll hurt Han - Bo has punched him a couple of times and Fu is still hissing at him (which is why Neo, Fu and Bo are still sleeping in the lounge).

Han has just missed the top of the kitchen cabinets - cats with poorly legs shouldn't try to jump over six feet in the air.

Ah well, back to the vet's tonight. Do you think it's ok to give him some Rescue Remedy - since the move he gets so stressed he wets the cage? I suppose he'll need tranq'ing to have his drains out and I don't want him to OD. I should ring the vet...

why didn't they give you a little head collar to prevent him getting to the shoulder wound?
sound like last couple days been a complete pain in the arse.
glad han getting better though;.

I asked that question too, Tas - I didn't go on Saturday, decided it was better to keep the other two calm - but Neo said the vet didn't think it was necessary. She doesn't know Han and his manic cleaning routine.

I'm going with them this evening, want to ensure I get any instructions first hand.

He is a manic cleaner?? When he was a baby he was the one who never was into washing himself at all, Bo was the manic cleaner.

She still is, A - she even rearranges the litter box without going. Hanny always has a dirty nose but does clean like mad in times of stress. He's also very good at washing Fu, who goes and presents his ears for cleaning several times a day.
