Porto has bald patches on his back legs?
Not sure if they have always been there but I don't think so. The patches are exactly on the joints, no other bald patches on his body and I haven't seen him licking this particular spot. Is it normal or a trip to the vet advisable?

Remember, Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in high heels.

Ooooh, I don't know. Maybe you should get a coal sack and give it and the cat an introduction to the Thames.

Lichty: Porto is trying to eviscerate you in that photo, isn't he
they look like normal friction patches. keep an eye on them to make sure that they don't get bigger, but otherwise it should be nothing to worry about. stress grooming is unmistakeable, and the bald patch will grow by the day( (if not the hour) ...

'Not always' would seem to imply that it sometimes is a nice thing......Fat Bob wrote:Can you put that in a spoiler toggle??!? Seeing a cats arse is not always a nice thing!

Morrolan,
How does it wear and tear from a couch potato life style ! I would think, if the cat's not moving much, its not going to have patches of fur drop or rubbed off! Its horrible..I am monitoring it, I hope it gets better.

Its got worst!!! The patch is bigger now and he bites it till it bleeds. I am not sure what to do? I try to stop him from biting his leg and he gets all mental with me.
I think he may be stressed, Litchy is away for a couple of weeks and he adores Litchy. What should I apply on it? Or should I just take him to a vet?

1. Rescue Remedy in his drinking water - 3 drops per bowl should do it
2. change around his toys thru the day, to keep him occupied. rabbit fur play mice are very popular with most kits. also, dangling some ribbons for him to chase and pounce on.
3. strew around some catnip if he likes it
4. just to be sure, a vet visit is a good idea - to make sure it isn't mites or something irritating his skin
