Beeeoootiful Long-haired Boycat need a Home

Post by Kooky » 29th Jan, '09, 11:18

My friend has a beautiful, fluffy, cuddly cat that urgently needs a home or at the very least someone who can foster him temporarily until a permanent home can be found.

Male, sterilised three weeks ago
Age around 8 months
Long-haired pale ginger, very handsome
Long tail
Placid, gentle, affectionate
Litter trained
Vaccinated, dewormed, tested -ve for FIV/FeLV
Fine with other cats
Found in Serangoon North HDB void deck in December

Apologies for eye-boggling photos, they're all I've been sent. You can see how gorgiss and lovable he is. :)

If you can give him a home, permanent or temporary, please contact me and I'll put you in touch with my friend in Sg.

Very tempting if we didn't have a couple of territorial males in the house.

Just realised they are coming onto 7 years old. Quick Google said they should be around for another 8-10 years. I didn't realise cats lived so long.
So…if you wish to wish a wish, you may swish for fish with my Ish wish dish.

Oh yes. They are a big commitment. Well, if you believe in commitment; unfortunately some don't.

Bo and Han will be seven in October and Han is a bit quiet since his mugging. :( Might have to take him for a check-up if he doesn't buck up soon.

hes lovely indeed... but a)wrong country b)2 terrors of my own who already cover the ENTIRE household in copious amounts of cat hair (grrr - anyone got any suggestions that dont involve sack/stones/river or having to hoover every day!) c)i am already in danger of becoming a sad cat lady (single, dress in black, cats etc, 'nuff said)....

I'm not sure if mine just shed more (developed seasonal coats, perhaps?) or I'm just not used to having to do my own cleaning, but I share your pain. AND I've had to buy a clothes brush.

How do you deal with claws and keeping the cat from shredding the hell out of everything you own?

I have a couple of things that bit the dust from claw marks. When I wear the "good stuff" I put it on and get the hell out of the house as fast as I can!

Assuming that you have got all the relevant scratchie boards and toys in the house and that said cats just ignore them and go for the furniture, I would try getting a water gun and spending time spraying them when they do the deed. Worked with mine anyways... Another more severe treatment for bad habit was putting chili around the base and top of plant pots that they were jumping up on and using as a litter tray. This produced such a severe reaction that I felt absolutely rotten about it for ages, but they never ever did do it again... not sure how the rugs would stand the test of a sprinkling of tabasco or chilli flakes though.

Yep, scratching posts work for us.

In Singapore the footstools would cop it and rarely the rug under the dining table, especially from Fu on waking, but here they don't seem to bother with any furniture. Han will occasionally dig into a footstool but he's basically saying, look at moi! look at moi! and as soon as we do, he stops.

I've got the scratchie things and they are a very good deterrent. I also choose furnishings wisely - I don't even bother with fully upholstered furniture. I have no rugs yet, hope to someday have them, but, see, one of my darlings is a puker. That seems to be my biggest worry with regards to carpets.

Hmmm, come to think of it, at the end of this conversation we've just scared off any perspective takers for poor Boycat!

Go for it, Slinky. Bad habits only lasted a day or two for me, and now they are complete mush and I could never do without them - only real issue is the fur tumbleweeds :D - a small price to pay for two adorable monsters :D

Wotcha need is one of these: http://www.funkycat.com.au/ How cool are they! Saw them in the flesh at a pet expo (yes, sad) (ooh look, the one in the photo) but really couldn't work out where we could fit one into this house.

I'd almost be tempted seeing it was apparently found right around where I put up anyway. Problem is their aren't allowed in an HDB flat. I lost my calico a while back, never did find out where she disappeared to. Still think she was either stolen or NEA got her in one of their culling operations. Collar and all. She'd just roll over to get her belly scratched. Thief or catcher wouldn't make any difference.

Currently the house if full of cripples (one with a broken ankle & one with a broken knee) and too many adults, a long-tailed cat in a room full of rockin' chairs it would be!

Darn good looking cat though. I really wouldn't mind having him but just can't do it.

SMS, lots of HDB dwellers have kitties - you just need to keep them indoors so they don't go wandering next door and stealing the fish off their dinner tables! the neighbours would never know ...

sms, I wouldn't try to force a cat on anybody as I know what a commitment they are, but I know you miss your calico!

You could always foster fluffy boy for a while, see how it goes? :) I decided agaist posting all the details I got as we're all quick to judge (me included) but it is a desperate, urgent situation and even a short-term home would help him out.

I showed Mr. S the photo, and you know how Mr. S is with cats, K. His first comment was something like, 'Oh, he's cool!'

I'm afraid I'm escalating this rapidly, but, deep breath, go ahead and forward me the info & I'll see about taking a look......

Edit: Have to drive Mr. S to work now -- be back later.

BTW Fu is missing. Went out in the night and didn't come home for breakfast. Now nearly noon and no sign of him, and he does like his food.

I just realized that when I said, 'you know how Mr. S is with cats' it could be construed as he doesn't like them - ha! He once followed (chased?) Han around K & Neo's house just so he could pet him

OK, going to call the cat lady...... :o
