Anyone know anything about this kind of thing?

I know a few people who have had it in the US. Seemed to work well & depending on the dog, after a while you don't really HAVE to have it turned on all the time because the dog definitely knows where the line is. We never felt the need for it, but our dog wasn't the 'do a runner' type - she was always happy to be close by & never cared to spend much time outside on her own.

Hmm, might consider it. It's more for peace of mind than anything else, and to stop Roxy digging at the fences. I could be a big hit with the cats by getting them a collar too

I wonder if it would work on cats? I think a lot of cats would just make a jump for it and take the shock

I have a friend in the US who swears by it, stopped her roaming pet from roaming any more.

Han is about 5kg.

Works pretty well for most dogs. However, I had a Golden Retriever that could not be contained by Invisible Fencing. Most of the time he would stay within the parameters of the fence but when he really wanted out to chase a squirrel or something fun like that he would back up run full speed & just take the pain. he knew it was coming too. However, dogs like that are more the exception than the rule.

I actually have a fence around the garden so a rapid escape taking te pain is not a real problem. I want to stop the dog digging at the base of the fence or squeezing through the bottom of it. Which will save me all the trouble of going around repairing it all the time.

I personally wouldn't use dogs in my fence. Wire conducts electricity much better than dogs. Trust me, I've done the test.
