Bangkok hotels
Any suggestions?
Re: Bangkok hotels
Thank you but I was hoping for some recommendation based on first hand experience!
If it helps we will only have time to visit on of the famous temple and perhaps walk along the c. prya river? What else can we do with only two days ?

Satellite,
I have stayed in two different hotels but I can only remember the first one; http://www.asiatravel.com/radisson/index.html which is frequented by mostly Americans, expensive but superb service and friendly staff, maybe a little out of the way as taxi drivers don't seem to know it. Will let you know the name of the other if I can remember it.

The Metropolitan is one of my favourites - both Minty and Monkey Hanger have stayed there too.
Sukhothai is also nice, and think a few threads on the old forum mentioned The Conrad.

Is the Sukhumvit area the best area to stay and around which soi?
Children aren't colouring books. You don't get to fill them with your favorite colours.

Re: Bangkok hotels
I stayed at the Omni Appartments the other day. Not got the foggiest what they are like as I was drunk for most the weekend, and when I wasn't drunk I was running my arse off around the rugby field. Oh, no, I was drunk then.
Hey, I sqaw Bobby Skinstat and Robbie Flek! Proves the level of tournament we were in, Bobby was playing in the RWC2007 for the eventual winners! Bangkok 10's hits new heights!

Did you see the side that Bobby was playing for miss 2 (count 'em - 2) tries in one game by dotting down over the 10 metre line rather than the try line?
Laugh? D*mn near sh*t meself.....
All in all a good weekend. I particularly like the way that the owners of the Black swan and Soi 8 stuck a large 2 fingers up at the governments alcohol ban. Well done...

It was an election weekend.
So government beer-ban scuppered, England beat the Froggies and I didn't have to eat a single fried insect.

Re: Bangkok hotels
Errrr.....no, team I played for were the second team. We either were too far ahead to worry about the dodgy line at 5m, or too far behind!
But yes, the first team did lose two tries that way. First person got canned. Second one was just not worth admitting to!
edit: As for booze ban....was out of my tiny little mind both nights. Well done whoever sold me beer. Aside from the curt officials who made me drink lots.
