If looking for a super cheap hotel in the middle of Sydney near the Rocks, The Wynard Hotel is listing following rates, and says they've recently renovated rooms, and pic looks ok for a basic sort of thing.

Single room - $77 per person 1 night 1 pax
Double room - $88 per couple 1 night 2 pax
Twin Room - $100 per couple 1 night 2 pax
Triple room - $110 per triple 1 night 3 pax
Family room - $130 per family 1 night 4 pax

I've been for drinks a few times in the wee pub down stairs and it has a good quiz night, didn't realise had accomodation.
