Another hospitality training school for disadvantages! or orphaned children, Sésame was set up by the French NGO Triangle Generation Hu-manitaire. Outside on the flagstone patio, bamboo-strip tables await, adorned with candles and gerbera daisies. The butter-yellow walls in the dining room are brightly inviting as well. French-Vietnamese dishes made with fresh local ingredients are delicious and beautifully presented, and the sweet staff are eager to please.

I ate here with my mum in HCMC - its set in an oldstyle colonial villa - beautiful setting, excellent food!

Sounds similar to a place we went to. The building was indeed nice. The staff were incredibly keen - if amusingly dreadful, and the food was on the less than edible side. Still, it was for a good cause

EPY - what's the name of that place next to the Blue Ghecko where you grill your own meat on the little burners? Now, that was excellent

Some cards for you ..... Kims cafe is really a backpacker place but you can go there to book a private car with guide for a day trip

thankyou EPY, I'm heading back over there in a couple mths for work as well. Having been at least once, feeling much more confident about the layout this time. Stuck with a bunch of people this time, but with luck will escape to do some evening look about. If anyone can find JJ's old Vietnam files, please pass on, her recommendations are always a standout as well.

Sorry, I saved threads on Hanoi, Cambodia, Climbing Mt Kinabalu...how to make a pavlova, and many, many others, but can't seem to find one on HCMC.

(Seriously, if anybody remembers and wants an old thread, do ask. I managed to C&P some that came up regularly.)
