Shanghai Baby!

Post by Fat Bob » 23rd Jan, '10, 09:38

I'm in Shanghai.

Tigers are playing Ospreys tonight.

I need to find a sports bar.

Anyone with any idea?

Irish bar in the French Concession area, O'malleys is the name <or O something, they all sound the same).

There's at least 2 popular irish bars. Pretty sure I've been to OMalleys to watch the cricket. Their gin and tonic is shyte.

O'Malleys it was. Thanks guys (the Guinness was flowing plentifully!)

The result? Great game, very high paced. Shame the Tigers didn't do it in the final minutes, shame Ospreys had to cheat to win...

Just rewatched the part where there were 16 on the field. (a) Lee Byrne did have an effect on the play as he was the player in front of Youngs during his break. Though I must admit, if it wasn't Byrne, another Ospreys player *should* have been in that position.

(b)Awful officiating in not giving Tigers a penalty. I'm unsure where the penalty should have been given, but I would have expected somewhere kickable.

Not sure I agree with the Tigers CEO in asking for a replay.

Can't imagine a replay would eventuate, precedents dictate othwerwise including during the WRC a few years back.

A penalty should definitely have been awarded, no doubt about that.

The Leicster coach said he didn't think the incident had a bearing on the result, the Welshsprays won fair & square. Nice bit of sportmanship methinks

I would hope that it doesn't come to a replay. But you think the Ospreys would be happy with a GBP10k fine (plus inflation) that England had at RWC2003?

Cockers has got it about right: Tigers should have been better to beat the cheatin' taffy bastards!

Glad it worked out. How was the scene there? I've not been in a year or so.

We had a lot of work stuff on Wed-Fri nights, so didn't get out. Aim was to find a bar showing rugby and stay in it. Which we did.
