Have a last minute work trip. Will be transitting out woop woop via Milan. Probably going to spend a Saturday there on way out. Am looking to spend 1-2days in the vicinity and easy transit before heading back home to Aus.

Suggestions from my well travelled fellow porum folk?

....organising today!!

hmmm, Milan is enough to keep you occupied.

But failing that, you could catch a train north to Como and see if you can spot George Clooney in his speedos.

If you're a rev head then Modena to the east is a short hop and you can visit the ferrari captial of the world.

Venice is about a 4 hour train ride east unless they've introduced a bullet train type thing in the last 15 years.

Thanks Baloo.

I wasn't sure about Milan, but may just be worth hanging around there for the weekend - just looked it up, could easily spend a day walking the city, the Venice idea is great. Wonder if I can extend another day on the quiet...

It'll be winter so there won't be much to see.

You can take a train and head north to the alps to get to a snow area. Skiing is already possible high up but maybe too much hassle for one day. Or head East to Lago di Garda. Nice scenery down on the lake and you can go for a hike in the hills around it
