Zurich
If you had a five day stop over flying in Zurich ...
How would you spend your time if you had never been to Switzerland before ?

Take a swim in the lake, climb the Eiger Nordwand and visit a cheese making factory to see how the holes get in.

Re: Zurich
Cuckoo Clocks aren't Swiss. They are from the Black Forest in Germany.
If you're a Sherlock Holmes fan you can head to Reichenbach Falls where sherlock died. Nice countryside with the belled up cows, hilly green meadows with chalets dotted everywhere and just a short hike to a glacier.

Re: Zurich
Munich.
St Anton.
Como.
Geneva.
Zurich is a short hop to a lot of places. Switerland is one big postcard.
Copenhagen has the Little Mermaid and slags. Not much to see there but the original Lego Land is in Aarhus which is one the other side of Denmark.

Re: Zurich
I disagree, i quite like copenhagen,,,, great shopping along the strand, tivoli gardens, nice canal cruise, miltary grounds were beautiful, and the food is awesome... You have to know what to look for tho, places that say smorebrod.... Usually small estamlishments with unostentatious doors... Prawns, Lemon sole, rye bread, salami, best cheeses is the world.... And if it is close to christmas it is beautifully decorated along the strand.... GeorgJensen has beautiful ornaments for christmas...baloo wrote:Munich.

But yes there are a few slags around certain areas.... But they can be avoided.....
When are you doing layover?

Re: Zurich
Canuck, you should declare your interests in things danish when doing a review. I've been to copenhagen 3 times and stayed with locals. I'd still choose Zurich for a layover over Carlsberg land if someone hadn't been to either.

Re: Zurich
Definitely Zurich over Copenhagen. The mermaid is a small statue in the middle of nowhere (except that there are a few clothes shops around) and you are basically done after 15min. Bear in mind that it's gonna be most likely cold and raining. From Zurich you can hop over to Germany, Italy or Austria, go skiing or hiking
Re: Zurich
Well the charm of a city is affected by the company you keep...
according to above all advice avoid both ....but zurich seems the easiest to get out of.. Coenhagen is close to nuthin really, and 5 days on your own and winter makes the islands down south seem downright freezing cold.. No wind breaks
