This is being played out live on the BBC right now, all gone very quiet from inside the bus, got to hope he hasn't carried out his threats.

Oh, Man. Very sad for those people on that bus right now. Let's hope this guy gives in without hurting anybody.

It's over - seems the hijacker has been killed, hostages being helped out of the bus.

8 hostages dead, most news reports not too complimentary on the handling by the police. Very sad for the families of all concerned.

Great shots of the police hammering away at the back window...and the window holding. Bunch of fuckwits. Hardly shock and surprise. No wondeer half teh hostages died, whether it be the hostage taker or the police that killed them.

On the other hand, if hostages offer no protection then perhaps fewer hostage situations will occur in the future.

The live footage of some of the so-called SWAT team laughing and joking following one of the failed attempts to take control of the bus must be such a comfort to the relatives of the hostages.

Utter shambles.

Yes, read that elsewhere. This is the people that proudly posed for photos by the bus, after the event?

"The Chinese embassy said in it expected the Philippines to come up with "a comprehensive and fair report, which tells the truth [and] upholds justice"."

That made me smile I have to admit. Like when the CCP lambast Japan for the Nanjing Massacre, conveniently forgetting that the CCP has murdered more Chinese people than any entity in history.

The Govt is coming under huge criticism here for the entire fiasco - from the apalling handling of event itself, including the media joke, to the insensitivity of draping victims coffins in the Filippino flag, wrongly labelling the the indenties of the victims on the coffins sent back to HK.

Acquino's mettle is being tested and right now the pre-election concerns about him being honest but too weak for the job, are resurfacing.
Then again, Arroya and co were despised for being tough yet corrupt, the political situation in The Philippines, eh?!
