George Clooney, Frances McDormand, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich and Tilda Swinton in a Coen Brothers Spy Movie.
Strange that I went to see it, but very glad that I did. Thoroughly good entertainment, lots of laughs, a few "watch through fingers 'cos I can see how it's going and really can't believe it" moments and one completely unexpected twist
Brad Pitt especially is excellent. Highly recommended.
(Sitting behind a tall man who for some reason needed to keep his hood up throughout a movie on a warm night - not really recommended.)

Re: Burn After Reading
I have only heard good things about it from those I know who went too. It came out here a few weeks ago and I wanted to go but it is one of those movies that doesn't really appeal to many here and so it has slipped past without me getting the chance. I'm sure it is still showing around town at some odd time of day.

Definitely on my list.
2008 looking like a pretty good year. There are now four DVDs worth buying.

I enjoyed the bits I saw, bit vague on it now, as I fell asleep 1/3rd way through (jet lag etc, preshow 1/2 beer didn't help), think liked all the agency supervisor/superieor scenes the most and the associated ending

Re: Burn After Reading
Watched it last night - some genuinely funny parts - some very stupid people - Clooney was very funny and the contraption he made for his girlfriends / wife was simply senational engineering though I couldn't quite work out the logistics (don't know if they included images of the dildo in Singapore )
Anyway - agree with Tassie the scenes with the supervisor brought the film together and were hilarious - overall it is worth the viewing. Also watch Rocknrolla the other day - cool film - 3rd Guy Ritchie film and though not as good as the others still worth a look.

Re: Burn After Reading
yep they did have what I think were all those scenes intact here, and that thought went through my head at the time, though there were no scenes with the angled cushion he was carting around....
things must be loosening up here
but I think it was more funny than risque, it had me wondering where he got the idea for that thing, must be on a blog somewhere....
liked it but we felt a little weird afterward so went right back into the cinema and saw that Woody Allen movie with Penelope Cruz immediately afterwards

I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book. Groucho Marx
