The Orator

Post by Scrummy Mummy » 25th Jan, '12, 10:45

A friend invited me to go to an open air cinema event, part of the Perth Arts Festival. The film didn't sound great, but I thought I'd give it a go.

Undoubtedly the most boring 2 hours I can ever recall (and hot and sticky, as we're having a 40-degree heatwave here).

The film is set in Samoa. The plot involves a dwarf who goes around with his axe cutting down yam plants and annoying people. He's married to a woman who was banished from her village for getting pregnant 17 years ago. The woman dies (I'm not sure of what, as I'd fallen asleep at this point) and he digs a deep grave. It pisses down with rain and he nearly drowns in grave. While he's being pulled out wife's family take the body back to original village. He goes on bus with her daughter and asks for it back, then takes the body home on the bus.

This makes it sound more exciting and fast-paced than it actually was.

It seems to have good reviews, so either those people are pretentious arses or I'm a philistine.

I enjoyed Alvin and the Chipmunks 3 more.

It would make a funny porn title, though. Hasta la vista, Baby!
A woman walked into a pub and asked the barman for a double entendre. So he gave it to her.

Only if the porn version also stars a Samoan dwarf.
