Restaurant Quandry
I have a business dinner coming up on Thursday and my American client has asked me to book a restaurant. The only criteria I've been given is, "Somewhere nice that serves a good glasss of white wine." Attendees at the dinner will be two visiting Americans, one Irishman and one local lady (there must be a joke there somewhere). Given the loose criteria and the mix of diners, where would you choose to go?

Garibaldi, Oso, Gunthers, St Julien
Forlino has a nice view of the Flyer and the construction site
You could try Equinox for the view, the don't know if the food is any good
Il Lido if you want to show them the wonders of Sentosa

Forlino is very nice. St Julien has gone downhill in my opinion.
I'd keep away from that Japanese styled Italian place at Robertsons Walk though, it's only good for a late sunday afternoon lunch.

Re: Restaurant Quandry
Someone recommended the restaurant at the Majestic Hotel recently for very good al la carte style Chinese dining. Beautiful Peking Duck and seafood dishes. They were very impressed. if your American visitors want to try some local fine dining that might work.
Majestic is a classy little boutique hotel and there's a balcony for diners apparently...

What about one of the places in Rochester Park? They're all in old black & whites & have a nice atmosphere.

I prefer to use the term "Monitoring your activities". "Spying" has such negative undertones.

Picotin? Dao Paulo (various options: Holland V, Club St, Rochester Park)? Michelangelo's? Original Sin? Never been to Senso for dinner, any good?
All have some reasonable wine lists and food that will go with it. Most are out of town. Just for variety if nothing else.

I would second Garibaldi. And since someone else is paying, how about Mortons?

After careful consideration of all recommendations and ideas, I booked at Senso. But I'll be looking for Baloo under the table, in case he's there to 'monitor my activities' ![moderateur [smilie=moderateur.gif]](./images/smilies/moderateur.gif)

Senso is a good choice. I've had some lovely dinners there. Hope you have booked the courtyard.

Re: Restaurant Quandry
I would probably suggest Graze in Rochester Park or Au Petit Salut. When I have been entertained as a client, my service providers haved aske me where we should go for dinner - I've used these a couple of times and they have really been impressed. These are food and wine loving people from HK and London, plus they picked up the tab. I think the real thing they liked was that all of a sudden they had escaped the concrete city into the jungle.
