ezLink cards: get them changed

Post by Fat Bob » 15th Sep, '09, 20:24

It's in the title, so get to it before Oct 1st. Well, unless you've done it in the last 9 months.

What happens then?

These are MRT cards rather than cash cards in car, yeah?

Old ezLink cards won't be useable, and you need the new type. If you leave it until after 30th Sep then you'll miss out on the free exchange of card offer (after that, you'll get the money back on your old card and have to pay $5 on the new one).

The new cards are for buses, MRTs, and can be used in other places, including the new type of in-car units for ERP and parking. You can link these cards to your credit card, which will stop me having to prat around with topping up my cashcards in my car....well, let's hope so.

Yep, done mine weeks ago at the Post Office.

No, strangely enough.

Strangely enough, we exchanged ours at City Hall. Here's a link to a page with links to lists of locations where you can exchange.

edit: fixed link

I stand corrected. You can do it at some MRT stations.

Oh yes you can, you can do it at ALL Ticket offices (list here). For the thrill of some evening exercise and to go and see the unwashed masses, I took a little walk to the nearest MRT station last night just to carry this out.

Kooks, if you mail them up I'm happy to take them down and mail them back down and/or pass them to you on your next visit. I need the exercise. Goes for anyone else that is lazy and/or wants to help my exercise program. PM me.

It's still possible to do it after Sep 30th, but you then don't get the free card replacement.

Cheers Bob but, thinking about it, we don't fly until after midnight so could do it ourselves. In fact there's a job for Neo when I'm at the dentist. :)

Just wanted to say thanks, Bob, for such timely posting. Turned 4 old cards into 2 new ones and ended up with more credit than we had to begin with, due to initial card costs. About $100 in all so worth doing.
