bank account of expat dying in Singapore

I need some assistance. I am an attorney in the United States who has a client who died in Singapore. He had an online bank account with DSB. I do not have his username or password to the account.

I am trying to get information about the account so I can transfer it back to his father in the states.

Will the bank provide me the information if I provide them with a death certificate and proof of probate in the United States? Any unusual laws that may get in the way?

I have not heard back from the bank after emailing them. Thank you for your assistance.

Yeah, I let it through because it was the first forum based one we've seen I think. Bit of a milestone.

If it is a real question, then why not (a) contact the bank directly or (b) engage a local solicitor to sort it out?

With 12-16 hour time differences, it is difficult, but only slightly so.

DSB is for Development Bank of Singapore. The account is with POSB which is part of DSB according to their website. I have tried their general email but have not received a response. Trying to get an actual person or the bank to repond.

I do not know how much is in the account. It could be $10 or $10,000. I am looking for a contact at the bank to assist me.

It was for an American citizen living in Singapore when he died.

If you're genuine you might get a better response if you get their name right. DBS

recommend you to consult a lawyer of Singapore about this or call up the bank's customer care to know more...
