Expat-food online...

Post by Duck » 29th May, '12, 18:14

http://www.expatfoodhall.com/

As a Duck who prefers UK Cadbury Twirls, pickled onion Monster Munch and Angel Delight...I was excited to hear about the Expat Food Hall... Product prices are very competitive when you compare to Cold Storage etc... Island wide delivery is only $10 upto 15kg, a little more if above 15kg, plus you can get same day delivery if you order online before 10am...

Will refer back, when I have made an order to let you know if the actual experience of ordering with them is a good one! [smilie=bananen_smilies035.gif]

Items seemed to not be badly priced (300g Dark Choc Hob Nobs are SGD4,75, in Sainsbury's they are GBP1.75). But I'm looking through, outside of that then there's not much else I can't find in the various Coldstorage stores nearby.

The English still think the sun never sets on the Empire.

Are imported Snickers different to local Snickers ?

Dont laugh but I think the Snickers in China taste better than the Snickers in Australia - can't put my finger on it, it's not something I ever expected to say either.

It's the melamine.

Not exactly expat food, but I imagine this site could come in handy. Friend of mine says it's great :)

I can see the utility of that site!

It doesn't. It's just that the bits of pink on the map are somewhat smaller!

Nope...no vested interest...just fed up with asking for visitors to bring me Cadbury Twirls from the UK...

Mind you, I do love SPAM too...maybe I should join that group [smilie=tas.gif]

Add the $10 delivery charge to a bag of Twirls and that's one expensive chocolate treat

I wish whoever started this (bored expat wife?) the best of luck but honestly I've seen so many similar companies start up and I can't see how they make a living. They always seem to have sales of out of date or almost out of date items.

Here in Oz we have physical shops - e.g., the British Lolly Shop (lolly being the Oz word for sweets), and the one down the road from us - Sugarfix. I got some Bachelors dried peas from Sugarfix to make mushy peas to have with my fish and chips [smilie=rotflmao.gif] what a carry on, novelty over, won't be doing it again.

Twiglets and Walkers Crisps available from Cold Storage (Jelita, Rail Mall to name two). What else do you want?

Have to say, in singapore if you want it, you can get pretty much everything... No need for expat shop.... Come chrimble time. Cold storages in certain areas have all the US/some canada, and definitely Uk treats galore..

And most other times jasons paragon has gobs of waitrose bramded stuff if you want to pay a bomb for it....
