Christmas pressies for the girls

Post by Aliya » 10th Nov, '09, 12:10

What to get? I will get lots of books and stuff like that but at 20 months and 2.5 years respectively what sort of big pressies should I be looking at. Farms? Musical instruments? Interactive toys? Big toys? Small toys? Learning toys?? Arggghhhhhhh [smilie=23_3.gif]

Fisher-Price Little People sets are good for that age. I don't have the Castle anymore (sent that off to my niece) but I have a zoo & something else, I think --- you want?

I bought loads of Happyland stuff on ebay. Mini plays with it a bit, but his big favourites are trains and cars. I'd avoid flashy electronic leapfrog type stuff - loads of people buy that for him and he hardly plays with it. Cooking stuff? Toy kitchen? IKEA has a lovely wooden retro one I want to buy for me.

I knew as soon as I'd posted 'you want?' that it would mean a trip down to the scary closet in my basement [smilie=23_3.gif] ;) (Scary 'cos it's so full!) OK, I'll work on getting the zoo out of hiding. Want me to put it in a bag and bring it to drinks tomorrow?

Play kitchens are also good. I've got one of those too - a Little Tykes one, but I'm not entirely sure the slinkies are truly ready to give it up just yet

Is that a boast or an offer? I'll certainly buy the bus and bulldozer from you - already have Happyland Fair ground so I guess Fun Park similar

you could bring them to the toy department to see what they like. Then get that for their Christmas present.

Hell no not yet - when they get older maybe (and have influence from other kids around them) but not just yet.

Batty's right -- they'll never know. And, the stuff is pretty durable, so it doesn't look all that 'used' anyway :D

God no, Mini gets loads of second hand stuff. I buy loads on ebay (just bought a load of Thomas stuff) and my best buy was someone selling Happyland stuff and a fort via the AB For $100 about 18 months ago. There was so much it filled the boot and the back seat. He's getting the fort this year if I can remember how to put it back together.

The amount of packaging on new kids toys is ridiculous, which is another reason to buy second hand.

Speaking of the AB, can any of access their site? I've been trying all day in vain.
