Haven't tried this yet, but this sounds good so thought I'd post it here:
Spiced Pumpkin Soup with Cinnamon Cream:
Serves 4. Prep and cook time: 30 minutes.
Ingredients:
- for the soup:- 1 tablespoon (20ml) olive oil
- 1 medium brown onion (150g), chopped coarsely
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 2 teaspoons (10ml) ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon (2½ ml) ground coriander
- 1kg butternut pumpkin, chopped coarsely
- 2 medium potatos (400g), chopped coarsely
- 2 cups (500ml) water
- 1½ cups (375ml) vegetable stock
- 5cm strip orange rind
- for the cinnamon cream:- 2/3 cup (160ml) cream
- ½ teaspoon (2½ ml) ground cinnamon
Method:- Heat oil in a large saucepan; cook onion and garlic, stirring, until onion softens.
- Add spices and cook, stirrng, until fragrant.
- Add pumpkin, potato, the water, stock and rind; bring to the boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer, covered, 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
- While simmering the soup, make the cinnamon cream: beat cream and cinnamon in a small bowl with electric mixer until soft peaks form.
- Blend or process soup, in batches, until smooth. Return soup to pan and stir over heat until heated through.
- Serve bowls of soup topped with cinnamon cream.

There's no meat in it, so what's the point?

Thank you for your valuable feedback. Perhaps you may wish to consider directing your chef to post a recipe or two for the carnivores?

Yum sounds good. We eat a lot of fresh soups as I find it the best way to get veg into the kids. Will try it this week and let you know. I don't suppose you have a Tamil translation of the above recipe
Children aren't colouring books. You don't get to fill them with your favorite colours.

Sorry, I don't.
I copied it into an online English to Tamil translator website, and it returned all sorts of pretty squiggly patterns and lines.

Pumpkin is a strange thing - I can never quite work out if it's savoury or dessert.

Substitute 'and' for 'or' above and you have your answer.

Bender, will you marry me? pretty please.
"I really love you" she said. "Is that the champagne talking" he asked. "No" she laughed. "That's me talking to the champagne"
