Make better use of your Waffle Iron

Got an underused waffle iron languishing in the cupboard? Shame on you! Waffles are yummy and so easy!

There is another use for that waffle iron though; use it to cook delicious, crispy bacon in a few minutes! Here's how:
  • Preheat your waffle iron for a few minutes.
  • Cut the rashers in half, then throw them onto the centre of the cooking surface and close the waffle iron.
  • Allow the bacon to sizzle for about five minutes. The fat will run away in the grooves of the waffle iron, and the rashers will stay nice and flat while cooking.
The end result looks mouthwateringly beautiful!

You can either save the bacon grease trapped in the iron's little nooks for flavoring hash browns or of course, baconify your next batch of waffles.

If I don't have a waffle iron, can I use a frying pan?

You don't have a waffle iron? How do you live?

My boss, who is a bit of an authhority on foody things, recommends using a microwave for bacon.

Microwave is good for cooking it, but not for making it crispy.

You need a powerful microwave and a rack to put the bacon on. Works for me.

But the waffle iron seems like more fun, especially when I think of the prospect of making bacon-flavoured waffles afterwards!

Strongly recommend you use the curling iron for this, just wrap the individul strips of bacon around it in a spiral. Just think of the alluring aroma it would impart to your hair afterwards. Heavenly!

edit: goddam typos.
