Quick question re Oz

Post by Scrummy Mummy » 7th Dec, '10, 11:33

Am I right in thinking that wireless routers bought in Singapore won't work there and I have to buy from Telstra etc?

I would think the only thing that won't work is the cable/ADSL modem or the like. If you have an integrated modem/router* then that may also not work.

*Explanation:
Separate modem and router: cable from Starhub/Singtel to box using coax/telephone wire, then another cable using computer network cable to another box (which may have antennae on it)

Integrated modem and router: cable from Starhub/Singtel to box using coax/telephone wire, box may have antennae on it.

If it's just a router/wireless router, it will work. You'll need an adaptor for the power though.

BTW, we have a Geeks & Gadgets forum and an Australia forum. Surely either of those would have been a better choice than General Banter

Do you think I have time to select fora? I'm surrounded by chaos, boxes and wireless routers!

Would have taken you less time than it did to post that reply

One has to prioritise, darling.

Which is why I'm correcting "forums" to "fora".

Why don't you and Morrolan just swap home contents?

Our Singapore router worked just fine here, but we no longer use it as the Telstra box does everything we need for everyone, so it now lives in its box.

I thought "forums" was acceptable modern usage.

Well I'm not going to spend time looking that up!

Since this has been moved to the pets' forum, can I just say that today they're leaving on a jet plane. They don't QUITE seem to understand......

In recipes now. Just how are you planning to transport your pets? Intestinally?

Certainly can't cook them - not allowed to take food in.

I think MM Admin and Beesknees may have hit it off. He's being whimsical today.
