Wine Bar : Mille Vini

Post by daffodil » 18th Jan, '09, 12:30

If you fancy a good bottle of wine, this place rocks! Hectic, buzzy wine bar with yummy tapas style food and one of the best wine lists.

No bookings - they seem to work on a two seatings per night policy although we arrived for the earlier sititng and kept the table all night. Which meant a few more trips to the wine list ! :D

I'm sure I'm not the only one that's going to see that title and think of a lipsynching pop group. :D

Hmmm, I didn't make the connection until now.

Lucklily, I have no recollection of actually hearing them sing.

That was my exact thought as well! Whatever else they may have been, they were easy on the eyes as I recall! ;-)

oh lord, first thing I heard was a pop song.
but very handy recommendation Daff. we've a lot of visitors in town this month, some of them really know their wine - so I might look like I know something about Sydney if I pop up with a decent rec :)

Recommendations for a nice wine bar type place on the North Shore would be much appreciated.

I am supposed to be meeting a couple of newbies who would like to stay this side of the bridge due to motherly duties, and have had to explain that Sydney doesn't, or from my understanding was not until recently allowed to, do wine bars due to odd licensing laws.

it's all about providing food and stuff. the hotel industry have a powerful hold over the State Govt and hence licencing body ( example article here http://www.mondaq.com/article.asp?articleid=54204 )

Decent wine bars on the North Shore? [smilie=rotflmao.gif]

There used to be a Will & Toby's at Manly, unsure of that's still around.

I know. :(

I did tell them it would be much easier to find somewhere that serves food, unless they just want to go to a pub/hotel.

A woman walked into a pub and asked the barman for a double entendre. So he gave it to her.
