Marvellous.
I think we had that a couple of weeks ago, but it's been a rather pleasant 28-30 since.

Ick. We're going to be in Sydney this weekend. But it's going to be 38 and 39 here, so not much different.

Re: it's Sydney's turn!
It will possibly be a bit cooler than 40 in the city and by the harbour. The extremes seem to be out west, Parramatta, Pentrith, etc.
It was a warm night, though. Increasingly the evap cooler is going on and staying on.

Re: it's Sydney's turn!
nice:
PARTS of Australia will be hotter than the African plains or Middle Eastern deserts this weekend, while other parts battle raging bushfires and still others cope with widespread flooding.
New South Wales is forecast to become the hottest place on the planet on Sunday, with the current heatwave sending temperatures soaring to 47C.

Re: it's Sydney's turn!
We're going to have to find a place with aircon.
I've got an appointment today and, although it hurts greatly after Sg, I'm just going to pay $35 each way for a taxi as there is no f***ing way I'm going on a non-aircon bus again.

Are there no a/c buses there?Kooky wrote:We're going to have to find a place with aircon.

What about winter? Are they heated then?

Re: it's Sydney's turn!
It seems to be hit and miss, Zeph. Last Friday I spent over an hour on a non-airconned one and it wasn't at all pleasant. This week I got an airconned one; still not great but better, although that was early evening. No idea about Winter, last week was my first encounter with a Sydney Bus.Zephyr wrote:Are there no a/c buses there?

We now know to concentrate our property search to areas with train lines, that's for sure. I'd rather not buy a second car but, if by some miracle somebody will employ me, I may have to put saving the world aside for now.
edit: Although the trains don't seem much better.

If I remember the trains correctly, it is dark musty and sweaty, over two levels

And there was me thinking you stored it all up for future use, DOYG. I'm disappointed in you. Must try harder.

I feel for you, K. With the heatwave, it must be no picnic riding a bus with no a/c.

So - 'cos I know you were all worrying about me and my logistics issues - I decided to employ a bit of creative thinking.
The Manly Ferry is a jolly nice way to travel in Summer, and comes with natural aircon.
