Brrrr

Post by Kooky » 27th Apr, '09, 17:12

Going to get down to single figures overnight in Sydney this week - was about 13C when I went out this morning. (And no, Daff, texting me from the poolside is not nice.)

Would I be incredibly sad if I admitted I'm seriously thinking of getting one of these? :D

I could hardly move in bed last night - a cat either side of my legs and one snuggled into my chest. They're happy their heatpads have reappeared for daytime, when I'm not here to sit on.

I just put one of those chemical handwarmers underneath Porto and he is probably the happiest cat right now

I have to admit that I am not looking forward to returning to Melbourne in early June. Cold weather and I do not sit well together. I hate to think what my poor kitties will go through when they have to spend a month in quarantine in June Melbourne weather.

Hey, I'll go you halves Kooky and you can send the other one down to me! I don't care which colour. ;) :D

PP, Neo landed in MEL at 6am yesterday to 7C.

They did give our kits heatpads in quarantine but not full-time; they had to share them out.

11 degrees is the coldest night we've had so far this April. And this is the tropics! (though admittedly we are 750m above sea level.

The seasons are changing again in Australia?? I can't keep up. It's a wonder I ever lived where there were 4 seasons each and every year

Surely that's not snow in Falls Creek in April? It's two months til the snow season starts...good grief, they know I am coming back...unfair...mind you it is damn sticky here at the moment.

Yes Slinks, 4 seasons are amazing. We are loving it, the UK spring is beautiful. We've had lovely sunny days and the progression of snowdrops, daffodils, tree blossom, fresh green leaves and bluebells is a daily delight. It does all happen really quickly.

The fact that it happens the "wrong" way round here is a bit weird, too.

Totally messed up my annual overseas shopping schedule, as well.

Yes, I would think that would be an interesting thing to get used to. I'm sure I'm likely to enjoy the change of seasons again someday when I live where they change, but I honestly thought I would miss them more than I have in the past 5 years. It's still hard for me to track or remember when things happened though -- when I think back on events they all must have happened in July because 'it was hot.'

Funnily enough here in FNQ it's more like the northern year. Bad weather from November to March, sunny and dry from April to October.

I still have real trouble remembering to call the bad weather bit "the summer".
