I Love Apple

Post by baloo » 25th Jan, '12, 16:06

So i have an iTune gift card here for $50AUD

WHen I trty and redeem it it tells me it's invalid.

When I change store to Australia it tells me my ID doesn't work.

Does this mean:

a) The gift card is useless to me with my current account ?
b) Is the only way to use this to create an Australian iTunes account ?
c) If I do thatr, does that mean anything purchased from the Singapore account will disappear off my iDevice ?

Is there a way I can combine 2 iTunes accounts into 1 ?

I thought Apple made things easier.........

I have previously bought stuff from itunes UK and Itunes US. When I recently bought an ipod touch and ipad in Australia, I had to register with the itunes Australia store. SOME of the stuff I'd previously bought won't now transfer onto my new ipods but MOST of it is OK. I can't see any particular factors linking the tracks that won't transfer!

Do you still have an Aussie bank account? You could give me the voucher number and I'll transfer you $50?

Apple don't exactly make it easy do they?

My Ipod is being recalled due faulty battery which makes the unit very hot. Apple, quite reasonably, are replacing the items - just need to register online, give the unit ID etc and a replacement will be sent.

Of course, you can't actually register or get the replacement sent to The Philippines or Singapore (where the unit was purchased) so set up an Australian account to get the article replaced.

So, Aust account set up.... No - can't deliver to a GPO Box....No - can't deliver to 3rd party as has to be signed for by the registered online party only. Which is of absolutely no use to me.

Call the helpdesk (in the US), wait in queue for ages....ah forget it, cheaper and easier to just buy a bloody new one myself!

hmmmmm, maybe I should convert to an Aussie or Japanese account then. I can't imagine anything I have bought would not be available in Aus.

I ended up moving my account to Aus, seemed pretty painless.

We'll see if the kids scream that their favorite app is missing.

No, just says something about not being associated with the account. But other tracks bought at the same time are OK.

My big issue with any sort of DRM: as soon as you change computer (or in my case, change the OS on your computer) it all gets f#cked up and you need to do work to get back onto it (that's iPod linking to a particular computer rather than song to account).

Me: buy the CD and rip it in the format and bit rate you want it as, and have the opportunity to change that. (And yes, I use iTunes to do all that).

However, I don't think MS are any better at DRM either.
