Ok Conan is going to have a live gay marriage on his show in NY. So 2 guys are getting married so what? Listen to the wide array of reactions from 18 different TV programs to the announcement. (about 1min in)

Now that is scary!

I thought same sex marriages were pretty old-hat these days. Hardly, 'pushing the envelope'.

Maybe old-hat Spikey, but realistically opposition to same sex unions, let alone marriage, is still unacceptable for the majority - whether they choose to publically air that opinion or not.

What?!! All my relationships past and present have been strictly opposite sex. But each to his/her own.

I agree, how is these days same sex marriage pushing the envelope? It seems the media on 18 different programs think differently and are pushing the EXACT SAME word for word message. Even in my wild conspiracy head that's impressive.... :ugeek:

If they all subscribe to the same wire service, AP, Reuters, etc, and they just lift the story and read it verbatim, then it is all written by the same person, right?

Honestly I think it was probably just a press release from Conan's own station that they just disengaged the brain and lifted the story verbatim. Very scary tho'

On the topic of trustworthy news wires....
Remember this classic a few years back? Jeff Goldblum is Dead. :)

Is that a euphemism?

No, it's plagiarism. (I knew the answer to that one!)

I suspect more than that, same-sex marriage horrifies your average bible-bashing American and so all the networks thought it safer to go with the script (as delivered in the MR) than be seen to make any comment of their own.

There is sex after marriage?
Don't quite see the big deal they make out of it. What is the general law in the US nowadays anyway. I remember that at some point California had it allowed and then peddled back.
