1) Cote d'or (dark, milk, nuts and my personal favourite, Bouchee)

2) some japanese brand. Too bad it was all in Japanese so I don't know what it was and can't buy it again (was a gift)

3) good old "flake" comes in 3rd

I like Royce (a Japanese brand). Their cocoa-dusted squares are delish. Actually everything they make is delish. And I'm not even a chocolate person, I prefer vanilla.

Not a big fan of Royce at all, I remember when they opened their shops in HK and I was so excited as I had heard so many good things about them, but then wasn't so impressed with what they offered for the price. Very nice but not exceptional. I do like their chocolate potatochips though...yumm.

I go to a local chocolatier who makes wicked chilli chocolate.

Haigh's (Australia).

Laurent Bernard (Portsdown Rd, Singapore). Scrumptious , expensive handmade chocolates.

Terry's chocolate orange (UK). Bit of a naff one but a Daff family tradition - Easter, Christmas stocking etc. Has to be done

Hotel Chocolat (UK). Sigh.

I could go on.....

I like the various fudge you can get in places like Cape Cod. They have shops all over the place where they make it on site and it's full of sugary yumminess. It's a must-do a couple of times each time I spend a week there

wow I am surprised a number of you listed Royce! I think it is overrated - I think a cadbury flake is nicer than that. And not really a chocolate as it is the filling dusted with cocoa powder. And there are much nicer fillings than that - like cotd d'or bouchee! There is also gjanduja (sp?) but I have yet to find any brand selling that. I tasted some from a chocolatier in Spore but apparantely sporeans are not keen ont hat so he doesnt do that anymore.

Sometimes jaffa cakes substitute my daily chocolate intake!

Just had some hotel chocolat as a gift. I think cote d'or beats the dark and milk range but the white chocoate is devine. The best I've had yet!

For chocolate bars, it has to be Valrhona followed by Cova. Green & Blacks for daily munching.

I think you can get Sprungli from Zurich airport (or is it the train station?). I like their mini macaroons best, way better than Laduree's.
