Church urges girl raped by uncle not to have abortion

Post by Kooky » 27th Jun, '08, 11:28

I don't even trust myself to write down how I feel about this. She's 11. Fucking 11.

wait a minute: it's not the church, the official position of the church is:
Their position was in contrast with the official stand of the Romanian Orthodox Church, which said the decision should be left to the girl's family.
have to give them credit for that at least.

it's church groups that oppose it. basically a collection of whatever fundamentalists have decided to band together.

The medical profession said she was OK to have the baby. As K said - at 11? Her body is still a child's body the chances of internal injuries (lots of girlie things) to happen are dreadful not to mention the mental stuff. She should definately be able to have an abortion, awful thing is she is 4.5 months now - baby will be moving, awful for her either way. Pity I cant adopt it!!!!
"I really love you" she said. "Is that the champagne talking" he asked. "No" she laughed. "That's me talking to the champagne"

If they won't let her have an abortion, I would hope they will at least 'allow' her to put the baby up for adoption. Good grief. It's difficult to see just what these church groups hope to accomplish by interferring in what should just be a very personal family situation.

Edit: The article says the unlce has 'disappeared' - I certainly hope there's a warrant out for his arrest at least!

Quote: [The National Doctors Council, however, said that the rights of the foetus should be considered and the pregnancy should go ahead. They argued that abortion laws should not be liberalised further.]

[smilie=23_3.gif] The rights of the foetus but forget the rights of the poor girl who will be forced to carry a reminder of this heinous crime and its long term ramifications which this child will have to live with for the rest of her life!

FFS, why not let the girl and her family decide what's best for them instead of a bunch of so called "holy do gooders" who have yet to understand what being Christian is all about.

I say castrate the perv Uncle when they get him.

Life is comprised of infinite possibilities; some known, others a mystery and destined to remain so. And what of the vast unknown, the realms beyond which knowledge has no established boundaries or parameters? Who is to say what exists or what is possible?

That's a bit tough. The government has allowed the abortion according to the Beeb. Next you'll be saying she can't have one cos she's fat, ugly and/or disgusting!

I don't see how these "Church groups" can have any involvement in the matter. It's the family's choice.
