Security Check on Arrival

Post by Spike » 19th Jul, '08, 14:35

So there I was at Changi Terminal 2, 1030 this morning, just arrived back from a week in Jakarta, trolling along towards Arrivals, glad to be back, whistling a happy 'isn't Changi a wonderful airport to be arriving home to' type of tune, when, what's this? I'm being herded into a channel that I can't escape from and find myself on the end of a queue, to be frisked and X-Ray'd, on arrival for chrissake! It ruined my whole arriving home experience. Has anyone else exprienced this new 'welcome to Singapore' strategy?
Prayer has no place in public schools. Just like facts have no place in organised religion.

I have from OZ but never from Jakarta. You should stop looking guilty then :D
"I really love you" she said. "Is that the champagne talking" he asked. "No" she laughed. "That's me talking to the champagne"

That's certainly true anywhere; if you fly into Heathrow from Japan or Singapore they rarely bother stopping anybody but that's not the case from Amersterdam, South America or the 'favourite' flights from the West Indies. Being searched coming from Indonesia into Singapore is nothing unusual, seems to happen quite often in the port and as somebody said from Bangkok. Drugs are the most likely reason.

This is not just the odd person that's taken to the side and frisked; they screen the whole flight, i.e., to get to arrivals you have to do the reverse of passing through the gate and the screening machines.

I did understand, it happened on a when I arrived at Changi from Bangkok, crew as well although on that occasion they weren't frisking anybody although I have seen the customs do that at the port when ships arrive from Indonesia (my experiences are a little dated now).

Children aren't colouring books. You don't get to fill them with your favorite colours.

Surprised there was enough room.....

Have been stopped a few times from Phuket recently.
