Stamps
Why do local stamps come with self-adhesive sticky stuff whilst more expensive stamps for international places come with something you have to lick?

Because it gives you a sense of satisfaction to have actually achieved sending something overseas?? Dunno.
"I really love you" she said. "Is that the champagne talking" he asked. "No" she laughed. "That's me talking to the champagne"

well, duh, I knew that. It's the same reason you should wear gloves when using the keyboard, so your DNA can't be sampled over the net.canuck wrote:easily side stepped with use of a damp sponge, criminal mind you are not

Re: Stamps
but back to the original question... could it be that the 'local' stamps are printed locally and the 'overseas' ones are printed somewhere else? Different suppliers maybe?
I'm thinking it may be that the international stamps are not 'pre-stickied' to cater for stamp collectors.
Why not ask SingPost? It would be interesting to see their answer.

Ask Singpost? What a jolly good idea! Let's see what BS they come up with!

Re: Stamps
ok, I've had a browse of the SingPost site and asked around here. The pre-stickied ones are generally not collectable and are usually called 'postage labels', whereas the licky ones are called 'stamps' and are made for collecting. Stamp collectors usually soak the glue off them, which doesn't work for the presticky ones.

Re: Stamps
Just wondering. If I asked the same questions I'd get blank stares. Doubt there is a stamp collector in the building.
Stamp collectors and train spotters seem to attract each other.

Re: Stamps
Always tworried abotu train spotters. Like it's something difficult. There's a train track, you should know whether it's disused or not. If it's not, sooner or later a train will come along. There, not that difficult really!
So, as the font of all stamp knowledge, do you know if they provide pre-sticky ones for overseas?

Re: Stamps
get a maid. We did that for the Xmas card send last year. Had her standing (she's only 4'6") next to the desk with her tongue out. Less mess than a wet sponge.
