A TECHNICAL glitch in DBS' banking system caused a breakdown of its entire online banking services on Monday morning, sparking much anger and frustration among its customers who could not make Internet transactions at its branches or draw money from both DBS and POSBank ATMs islandwide.
DBS has the most extensive network of 81 branches and more than 900 ATMs in Singapore, including those belonging to POSB.
The breakdown was reported as early as 6.30 am on Monday.
DBS has apologised to the public on its website for the inconvenience caused, and a spokesman said that teams from the DBS responded immediately to rectify the problem.
The spokesman said some of the DBS banking systems have resumed normal service at around 10 am.
An update on the DBS website said DBS and POSB ATMs will be 'available progressively', while all DBS, POSB and Treasures branches are now up and operational. It added that it is still working on restoring other services, including credit card services, internet and mobile banking.
Scores of frustrated and irate DBS and POSB customers vented their anger online, some complaining that they visited as many as five different ATMs but were left cashless and unable to top up their cash cards to pay for ERP.

Another reason why we should be able to take our cash out of other ATM's!!!
Anyone ever tried to do an international transfer of funds via internet on DBS? They tell me I can, I am tooo gobsmacked and quite frankly disbelieving that it is true.

"I really love you" she said. "Is that the champagne talking" he asked. "No" she laughed. "That's me talking to the champagne"

Re: DBS Internet Banking
I remember seeing an "International Transfers (new)" item in the menu. Can't log in to confirm it now.

Re: DBS Internet Banking
Ok, well that's good news.
Out of curiosity, I'll try to transfer the same amount from DBS, Std Chartered, and via HiFx and see how much difference it makes.

Re: DBS Internet Banking
That is good news and a long time coming. To be honest, it is the only complaint I've really had about DBS.Jedi wrote:Yep confirmed - Remittance, Telegraphic Transfer on DBS iBanking. Marked as new feature.
