Vuvuzelas

Damn annoying on TV and apparently also on the field. Ear plugs are sold out as I read somewhere today. Lets hope they get tired of them pretty soon or ban them

I spoke to my folks in SA yesterday and apparently the latest thing is a fear of spreading TB (and other nasty bugs)! Reports are that if you're in the lower part of the stadiums you get covered in a good spattering of other people's saliva!

Ew!

Had turn off the volume on the first day. There's no way I can listen to giant wasp farting for a whole month...

Apparently, Sainsbury supermarket in the UK, has already sold out of their version of the horn - maybe they will turn up at Premiership games too!

Well we had a combination of vuvuzelas and Thai football pundits so sound was definitely off for us. In any case, I can always rely on Mr Dino to perform a running commentary in English on all events :D

It might be just me but today the vuvuzelas seem to be getting a bit less and traditional football noise is getting more audible

Don't know as we had no sound at all last night. Had a brown-out and the amplifier wouldn't work.

A brown-out? Is that similar to a senior moment in your pants?

No we ditched the speakers. We've got the TV and recorder wired into our hi fi. We actually recorded the Argie-Korea game as it was on quite early 6.30pm here, then the plan was to watch it after dinner at 8.30pm. At 8.20pm we got the brown-out (no FB it's to do with 3 phase electricity, when one of the phases goes kaput I think, it's a speciality in Phuket  ). So the recorder was working on and off, speakers off, lights on and off, aircon off. It took bloody ages to watch as the picture kept going off just before goals and had to keep zipping back. But at least the fridge was on, so cold beer and wine in full flow.

Oh and another thing..... if you want to go out and watch the games in a bar, they are now apparently banning English commentary (in Phuket) http://www.phuketgazette.net/archives/a ... e8834.html

They are banning illegal copyright violations rather than English language. There is no company in Thailand that purchased the English audio rights to the world cup and so anyone showing English language commentary is breaking the law. (And didn't apparently hand the brown envelopes to the right person).
