Weekend trip to Melaka or KL
What buses can you recommend for a weekend escape to Melaka or KL (or anywhere else). I've found websites but it doesn't seem to say how long the bus journey will take. Has anyone done this lately?

KL is 5-6 hours, Melaka about 3-4 hours I think.
I've done both but not lately, and in both cases I was on one of the luxury ones. Easy enough. I went to play sports in both places, so unknown just how good one or the other is for whatever you want.

Golden Mile arcade on Beach Road is a veritable rabbit warren of Malaysia travel agents and bus operators.

I used to get the Airebus business class, and they were very good. It was a few years ago though. The link has a bit of info about them

Skip the bus and fly Air Asia. Costs about the same and saves you about 2-3 hours of traveling time.

I always preferred the bus for some reason and flying saved me absolutely max 2 hours door to door, and involved Budget terminal in KL, buses or long taxi rides, airport trains and more hassle. I liked the bus, could use a laptop (they have power sockets), comfortable seats & the ability to forget about everything for a few hours & either nap or read. You have to get off for immigration & customs but it was always quick and then you got dropped right in the city centre. If speed is the only concern though, then Nev is totally right.

We did Singapore --> KL on a Transtar "FirstClass" bus last year - about 6 hours and all good. One thing to remember on arrival in KL is the taxis: before accepting a ride, insist that the trip is done with the meter running, or be ripped off severely.
