Not a suggestion or a complaint, but

Post by Kooky » 15th Jul, '11, 08:27

a question.

I've just noticed on another forum that members are reporting whole threads being replicated on other, unrelated websites. Suggestion is that scripts have been set up to copy them over (for whatever reason).

Is it possible that this could be also be done to the Porum? I'm not daft enough to think the net is 100% secure but can think of quite a few threads (not all my own :) ) that I would not like to see splashed all over the place.

Search engine farms. Can't be stopped. Anything that is publically visible can be copied.

Anything that needs special access (our Social forum and tlc) can't be copied.

Life on the net.

I wonder if the people who posted on a comments thread in Facebook expected to be qouted in the Business Times

Thanks baloo - I hoped that was the case re. restricted forums.

EPY, if you post on a petition on Facebook, I would hope you realise it's public. Then again...

edit: I received an email a while back from Amnesty, apologising that names had accidentally been left on petition emails re. Burma. I don't sign this kind of thing expecting it to be confidential but perhaps I won't bother planning a holiday there :)

Kooky

I am pretty careful about what I post on this or other forums.

Especially now that you are a media celebrity of sorts - appearing in ST and all that.

I am much more careful about what I post on facebook - yes really, what you see is often edited.

Whilst I can control what I write, I have concerns about some of the responses I might get. Due to the range of people I have on there for different purposes, and also the fact I don't tell my family everything that goes on in my life, I think a few friends (who are not real friends) may soon be getting shut out.

I'm considering a cleanup of facebook friends too. Just trying to work out where to draw the line.

Google+ is making me think hard before which Circle I add people too and which circles see my posts.

My 2nd hand iphone is 3 years old. Oh the shame.

And now, because I have an earworm, I'm going to share it. It's a good one though. You're welcome.
