London 2012 Olympics
Sports Guru FB - do you know who or where is televising the Olympics - Starhub don't seem to be able to know when I call them so I guessing it is only showing on Mio?
Mediacorp will show events where Singaporeans are competing but I dont really want to watch Ping Pong!
I want to watch athletics and gymnastics particularly.
Ta in advance

Re: London 2012 Olympics
Sorry, missed this one.
You have several options: as you rightly pointed out, Chan5 will show a few events but mainly Singapore-focused and usually a round-up at the start of the day. Not that good.
MioTV will show it on the ESPN Channel. I don't think they've got the huge number of channels Starhub had for Beijing, so again, may get a focus on Asian sports.
Final option is to get a UK Proxy server so you can watch the beeb on your PC. I'll probably do that.

Re: London 2012 Olympics
Yes, Mio have the Olympics. I'm happy to rent out a couch for popular events. $50 an hour or $150 an hour and I'll keep the boys away.
So…if you wish to wish a wish, you may swish for fish with my Ish wish dish.

Re: London 2012 Olympics
you could pay them to drive the buses in london, reckon couple kids from singapore with no licence could find way from airport to olympic village faster according to reports of busdrivers with first day on the job. or security jobs might be more appropriate, those kids are might be pretty scary
they're a few thousand short manpower for those too.

....and I get told off for banging Australia down!:D
I think every negative thing possible will be opened to scrutiny by the UK press. There are many people unhappy with the Olympics being in London (and not somewhere else in the UK) or unhappy that it's in the UK at all. Positive stories about the games organisation will be hard to come by. The UK has no opportunity to lock up the dissenters or make sure the press only give positive reviews.

Re: London 2012 Olympics
I'm actually looking forward to the opening ceremony. It's brilliant.

Re: London 2012 Olympics
sensitive sensitive, was reading UK Huffington Post to get those updates. Not sure I blame some of the local folk for being pissed off at their homes being missile support towers.... honestly couldn't care less about the Olympics location, but in regards to UK base etc I always enjoy any commentary from that Boris chap find him a cheerful positive chap in general. But taking 4-5hrs to drop off the Australian and American teams from Heathrow is admittedly a bit on the poor side surely when the excuse is new on the day and no GPS programme. The Aus press was reasonably amusing, gave the athletes quite a few joking points, as far as I can tell was taken in good spirits. Apparently everyone is very happy with the 100,000 condoms available.

Re: London 2012 Olympics
It's the same, well similar, old press pre-Olympic beatup stories that seems to happen before kick-off! Gotta get in a bit of pre - games drama, before we can then enjoy the sporting drama!
I am a sucker for The Games though, will watch as much as I can - and before someone brings up the cheating factor, I still love the concept and generally the content.
And Tas..yes read about the condom supply. Young, athletic people living in close proximity for weeks on end...endless adrenalin, gotta use it up, eh?
Edit : Danny Boyle is directing the Opening ceremony, should be worth a look.

I'm rather looking forward to having coverage that is a little wider than table tennis and the women's 100m butterfly

Re: London 2012 Olympics
Just watched one of the BBC programmes showcasing different Olympic sports - this one was about the evolution in swimming. Great footage of past / present Olympians including Mark Spitz, Ian Thorpe, Rebeccca Adlington, Dawn Fraser and the amazing Michael Phelps - who is competing again in London.
Enjoyed re-watching the Australian Men's relay from the Sydney 2000 games, some feat.

The sun is shining & the sky is blue... I've just watched the Olympic Torch relay pass through our neighbourhood... Perfect timing for a visit back to London, lovely community event!

Re: London 2012 Olympics
What is not to like about that girl on the surface. Amazonian strong, gorgeous and smiling (brunette as well
) , and best of all she is not some rake of a thing but got something to her, and she wins. Good on her, I would be pretty happy if I'd turned out like that too.

Re: London 2012 Olympics
Did anyone watch the O C ?
Have read reviews varying from brilliant to bonkers to "multi-cultural crap" (Tory MP). Some of the photos look spectacular, but hard to figure without actually seeing the entire show methinks.
Anyway...let The Games begin!![mango [smilie=mango.gif]](./images/smilies/mango.gif)
