Can anyone recommend a good chiropractor?
My Significant Other suffers from scoliosis which over the years has gotten worse. It causes a lot aches and pains throughout her back, shoulders and neck. I'm hoping that a good chiropractor can help relieve some of her pain. Do any of you good people know of someone you can recommend? Many thanks in advance!

Chiropractic First at Suntec Tower 3, #22-05. Phone 6336 6338. Ask specifically for Brad. He's an Aussie and very good. There's also a Aussie woman there who I don't rate as highly.

Active Chiropractic, Dr Bruce Lee, Camden mecical building next to Tanglin. Excellent.
Scoliosis is a real worry, my ex's mother has it, massage definately assisted her.

'good chiropractor' is a bit of a contradiction in terms... given that they're all dangerous quacks.

Thanks for all the replies.
My girlfriend used to rely on TCM cupping with colourful if not particularly effective results.
I have heard a lot of positive info about the benefits a good chiropractor can offer.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they're all dangerous quacks but you certainly have to choose carefully, as the wrong one can do a lot of harm, so you are right to ask for recommendations.
She could also try osteopathy first - a gentler form of treatment. I can recommend you one of those, and also a good TCM guy - not sure if acupuncture is effective for this condition?

Lovely Mr Jo the Osteo and his team (although I think Willy has now left to go travelling):

PS He's been training in TCM with the doctor I saw for my acupuncture so, if he thinks it will help, he will recommend him.

Re: Can anyone recommend a good chiropractor?
My brother is a chiro, got into it because he wanted to help people and it morphed from his sports therapy background.
I've had 2 experiences with chiros - one to relieve neck pain from a Japanese chiro (worked), one from a Koh Samui resort chiro, an American guy (awful experiece, became extremely nauseous, but I was fasting at the time).
From what you explained maybe a physio would be an alternative, I had a pinched nerve in my back, there's a guy on Clemencau that did wonders for me with electro-shock or whatever it's called, some chiro, stretching and exercises.

I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book. Groucho Marx
Re: Can anyone recommend a good chiropractor?
I have had back problems for years - which have now stopped for some reason - BUT the only type of person who could fix me was a chiropractor. Physios, osteopaths = quacks for me anyway, often made things worse, much worse, namby pamby stuff that was a nightmare for me. But a good click from a great chiropractor used to sort me out like thing else. Horses for courses etc, it is like anything else, get the right person and treatment. For me it was a chiro.

Re: Can anyone recommend a good chiropractor?
Just thought I'd update this thread. Mei has been to see Thomas at Osteopathic Pain Relief Centre. The first consultation cost $118 and she had one subsequent treatment session ($86) the week after. For the first time in ages she is entirely pain free. Thomas is popping over to her office tomorrow to check out her sitting/desk height arrangements. Thanks for the recommendation Kooky!

Re: Can anyone recommend a good chiropractor?
Ooh Thomas must be Willy's replacement. Glad to hear Mei is feeling the benefit.
I doubt they're the cheapest in town but they do go the extra mile; Mr Jo once came to my gym and went through my hour-long programme with my trainer and me, suggesting improvements and workarounds when my shoulder was bad (at no charge). He was also happy to advise my trainer by email.

Re: Can anyone recommend a good chiropractor?
Yep. Thomas is the new guy - just off the plane from London about 4 weeks. He is doing the same thing for Mei - freebie advice about her seating arrangements. Of course he is probably going to get lots of contacts and potential clients from her office too. I don't mind the cost - she was going to the same TCM guy for years with little or no results apart from temporary pain relief (lasting about one day). So this guy has worked wonders with just 2 visits.

Re: Can anyone recommend a good chiropractor?
I'm in no way as anti about chiropractors as some, although I don't have experience of them, but if I went to one I think the operative word would be "snap". Even Mr Jo the Osteo couldn't do some of the manipulations he would have liked.

Re: Can anyone recommend a good chiropractor?
Hey Addadude, how is M doing? I told William his replacement got a name check on here; he says he's supposed to be very good indeed. (Of course he would say that, but this was to me, in private.)
I miss Mr Jo I haven't been to an osteo in six months and my shoulder needs some attention, but I think finding a new osteo I like may even be as bad as finding a decent hair stylist. I'm trying to get Willie to set up here.
