. When we moved into our house here we threw out the tumble dryer. Trying to save the planet y'know (not to mention our electricity bill).

After having a set of new and expensive bedlinen disappear off the clothesline once, and a couple of pairs of 501's another time, I decided it's cheaper to use the dryer. Easier too!

We used to tumble dry everything. Now in an effort to combat our forever increasing electricity bill, we have stopped using it.
So…if you wish to wish a wish, you may swish for fish with my Ish wish dish.

What is soft water? ie how is it defined scientifically?

ok I looked it up. Soft water has less cations (ca 2+ and Mg2+) than hard water.

Country's fine, but I used to live in a suburb with high unemployment and drug use. Our house was burgled, big time, twice while living there too. It was an interesting experience, and I learnt a lot.

Me too, but I do clean my toilet with a pumice stone.

I live in a small flat with no space to hang anything dry. I use the tumble dryer once week, I bring my own cloth bags to shop, and I try to recycle whenever I can. I think we all try to save the planet in one way or another.

Yes, noted, it's not so easy to get things dry when you're in a small flat. We had the same problem in Singapore - and very difficult anyway with the high humidity. Not so humid here thankfully.

I tumble dry everything, no excuses, I likes my towels fluffy and my clothes unstinky, hard to begrude me the equivalent of about $30 a year really, not like I have driven a car in 2.5 years. or take weekends flying off in airplanes to unspoilt beaches only to increased the garbage on said islands and burn more fossil fuels to keep me cool whilst I sleep

OK OK - it looks like the fabric conditioner discussion is morphing into a discussion about environmental awareness. Can we hold off on the environment subject for a couple of days please? I'd like to start a new thread, but need time to think about what talking points I'd like to raise. I'm going to be travelling for a couple of days, so will start the new thread during the week.
In the meantime... RB71, have you done any more washing, and is it any smelling any better?

Have a fab holiday, Bender +1. Eat lots of yummy food for me (without spending $14 on a plate of noodles) and come back safe and sound.
Look forward to your eco-thread.

edit: Ooh you're in Sydney. If I'd known you were coming I'd have ordered sunshine.
